Sam stared at Jack, his eyes full of mischief as he looked back at her, while continuing to consume his enormous bite of oatmeal.  She could feel Daniel’s eyes moving back and forth between her and Jack.  Trying not to laugh openly at the goofy look on his face, along with attempting to conceal the blushing pink she could feel rising in her cheeks, she looked over at Daniel and shrugged.

Daniel couldn’t take it.  If Sam wasn’t going to pursue his question, then he would.  “You know, Jack, it’s rude not to answer a direct question.”  Daniel said as Jack put his spoon back into his oatmeal and began making circles in it.

Looking up, Jack gave Daniel and obnoxious look.  “I’m sorry, Daniel, was that a direct question?”

Daniel gave Jack a look of disbelief.  “Oh, come on, Jack.  You can’t sit there and expect us to just go off that look you just gave Sam.  What exactly did you do while you and Teal’c were stuck in the time loop?”

Jack gave him a contented sigh as he leaned back in his chair and rested his hands behind his head.  He was really enjoying making Daniel squirm with curiosity.  “Relax, Daniel.  I didn’t do anything to you…well, not directly anyway.”  Sitting back up, he took another bite of his oatmeal.  He couldn’t help but smile as he watched Daniel look over at Sam.  The not knowing was really bothering him, and he was loving every moment of it.

Daniel adjusted his glasses as he looked back over at Jack.  “Jack…”

Sam put her hand on Daniel’s arm as she looked over at Jack.  “Come on, Sir.  You can’t leave us hanging.”

Jack looked at her and knew that his little game could go no further.  He found it impossible to deny her anything, especially when she cast those blue eyes his way.  He loved her more every minute that went by, and he couldn’t wait to be alone with her again so he could remind her just how much he did love her.  His memory quickly flashed back to their special night, only a few days ago.  They had told each other what their hearts had been telling them all along: I love you.  And through that emotional confession, they had shared an amazing night of passion, making love as if it were for the first time for each of them.  He now found his dreams filled with her touch, her caress, the feel of her skin against his.  And he couldn’t wait to feel it again, but in reality.

Sam cleared her throat at Jack’s obvious daydreaming.  “Sir?”

Jack blinked and looked back at Daniel and Sam.  “Sorry,” he said, suddenly realizing that he had become consumed in memories once more.  “What were we talking about?”

Daniel threw up his hands in frustration and grabbed the top of his head, pulling on the strands of hair that were unlucky enough not to escape his grasp.  A stifled groan became a frustrated growl.  “You know what Jack…never mind.  Forget it!  I have artifacts in my lab that pay more attention to me than you do!”  With that, he got up from his unfinished Eggo waffles and made a beeline for the commissary door.

“Daniel!” Jack hollered, very aware of the attention they were drawing.  Looking briefly at Sam, her eyes searching his, he got up and followed Daniel out into the hall, with Sam right behind him.  Seeing that Daniel hadn’t slowed his pace any, Jack called out again.  “Daniel!  Oh, for cryin’ out loud!  Will you hang on a second?”

With that, Daniel stopped, rolled his eyes briefly, and turned around, waiting for Jack to catch up with him.  Seeing Sam trailing along after him, Daniel tried to calm down.  She didn’t deserve to have to put up with his bad mood because Jack was trying to irritate him.  Sighing, he looked at Jack with a weary expression.  “What Jack?  I’m tired of playing this little game you’ve got going.  I don’t really care anymore what you did in the time loop.”

Jack put a hand on his shoulder.  “Oh, come on!  Sure you do!”  Looking over at Sam, who had come to a stop beside him, he smiled at her before turning his attention back to Daniel.  He wasn’t sure why he felt he had to satisfy Daniel’s curiosity.  Usually, he didn’t care what Daniel thought about him.  But now having Sam in his life in a way he had only wished for in dreams, he didn’t want to risk her regretting the decision to follow through with her heart.  Though he certainly had no intention of hiding who he really was, he thought in this instance, he could oblige Daniel’s curiosity.  But there was one moment that had happened that he would only share with Sam…

Daniel looked at him impatiently.  “Well? Are you going to tell us or not?”

Jack fought the urge to just blow up in Daniel’s face at his persistence.  But with Sam next to him, the unusual calming effect she had on him was working in full-force.  “Well, let’s see,” Jack said, turning for the elevators at the end of the hall as Daniel and Sam kept pace with him.  “I found out that I’ve got an amazing swing to my golf game.”

Jack filled them in on all the “advantages” that he and Teal’c had been able to take part in.  Everything from his newly acquired pottery skills, to the feeling of riding a bike down the halls of the SGC.  The kiss he had given Sam was the only thing he left out, and it was something he never intended to share with anyone but her.

As Jack reached out and swiped his card for the elevator access, Daniel looked up with a sudden thought.  “So Jack.  If that was everything you did, what was the look about that you gave Sam when I asked you if you’d taken advantage of the time loop?  Nothing you did seemed to have anything to do with her.”

Jack was taken by surprise.  It was almost as if Daniel had just read his mind.  Feeling Sam’s eyes on his face, he looked over at her and then at Daniel.  “You know, Daniel, you tend to let your imagination run a little wild.  I really don’t know why you’re analyzing something that wasn’t there.”

Daniel put his hands in his pocket.  “Oh, come on Jack!  You really don’t think I’m that ignorant, do you?  I know what I saw.”

Jack was ready to string Daniel up on the wall.  But before he had a chance to, the elevator doors opened.  “Daniel,” Jack said, getting on the elevator, followed by Sam and his very annoying shadow, “I really don’t care what you saw.  Maybe, just maybe, I prefer to look at her face instead of yours.”

Daniel looked up and sighed.  “Oh, that’s really mature, Jack.  Just skirt the issue if you want.  It doesn’t matter.”

Jack clenched his fists and looked at the floor number they were on.  Level 4.  It was going to be a long ride down to level 28.  He was considering getting off and taking the next elevator, but with Sam so close to him, he decided he could take about anything Daniel could dish out, as long as she was with him.

Sam could see that Jack was hiding something, but she had no idea what.  What she did know was that it had to have something to do with her and Jack, which would explain his resistance in revealing it.  She looked over at Jack and gave him a brief, reassuring smile before moving closer to Daniel.  As the elevator started it’s decent, Sam nudged Daniel gently with her elbow.  “Maybe you did read too much into it, Daniel.  If he says it meant nothing, then I’m sure that’s exactly what it was: nothing.”

Daniel rolled his eyes.  “Oh, come on, Sam.  You don’t have to defend him just because he’s your CO.  Jack’s just being an ass.”

“Hey!” Jack said, irritation coating the tone of his voice.  “You know I’m standing right here, Daniel.  I can hear everything you’re saying!  And for your information, I’m not obligated to tell you anything.  So why don’t you stop being an ungrateful…” Suddenly, the elevator jumped as if something had bounced off of it.  The emergency brakes kicked in at the detection of the motion, and the elevator came to a screeching halt.

For a moment, no one moved or breathed.  Finding his voice, Daniel spoke up.  “What was that?”

Jack moved slowly towards the control panel.  “You’re guess is as good as mine.  Carter?  Any ideas?”

Sam looked around in thought.  “I can’t really say, Sir.  It sounded like a spring or wire might have snapped.”  When they both whipped their heads around to look at her after she finished her sentence, she quickly continued.  “Or maybe not.”

Jack reached out and pushed the “door open” button.  When it didn’t respond, he pushed it again.  “Damn.”

Daniel nervously adjusted his glasses.  “Uh, Jack?  Are you so sure you should be pushing that?”

Jack didn’t have any patience left.  “Daniel.  What exactly do you expect me to do?  We can’t just stand here and wait for the elevator to start working!”

Daniel cleared his throat.  “Well, you could trying using the emergency phone.”

Jack hesitated before answering.  He could feel his teeth grinding.  “Gee, thanks Daniel, for clearing that up for me.  I didn’t know I could do that!”  Reaching out for the compartment that held the phone, Jack had just unlatched the handle when a loud, eerie creaking sound echoed above them.  “Okay, that doesn’t sound good.”  Opening the compartment, Jack quickly picked up the phone and waited as the other end of the line began to ring.

Sam eyed the access panel in the roof of the elevator as she listened to Jack report their situation.  It was big enough for each of them to go through, one at a time, but she didn’t want to explore that route unless absolutely necessary.  The fact that they were approximately 20 stories above the ground didn’t make her feel like doing an acrobatic tricks.

Jack hung up that phone and turned around and looked at them.  “Well, they’re working on it.  They were alerted in the control room when the emergency brakes kicked in.”

“So what do we do in the meantime?” Daniel asked.

Jack shrugged his shoulders.  “Wait, I guess, and hope that the brakes hold.”

Sam looked at Jack.  “Actually Sir, it’s the cables we should be concerned about.  If they snap,…”

“Aahh!” Jack said, holding up his hand.  “I don’t want to here it, Carter.  Positive thoughts only.”

Sam smiled at him.  “Yes Sir.”

Without warning, a loud snap was heard overhead, and the entire elevator shook violently in response.  The motion caused Jack to loose his balance as he unwillingly surged forward, running into Sam and slamming both of them against the back wall.  They both dropped to the ground as the shaking stopped.

Jack got his bearings and looked over at Sam.  Reaching out, he touched her on the arm.  “You okay?”

Sam slowly looked over at him and nodded, trying to catch her breath.  “Fine, I think.  I just had the wind knocked out of me.  Give me a second.”  As she brought her knees up to her chest and placed one hand on either side of her, she could feel Jack’s hand as it moved from her arm to her back.  He began rubbing it lightly as the stars cleared from her vision.

As she looked around, she noticed Daniel lying on the floor unconscious.  She nodded in his direction.  “Sir, Daniel, he needs help.”

Jack looked over, stunned to find Daniel on the floor.  His only concern had been Sam.  He hadn’t even thought to check on Daniel.  That thought alone made him feel guilty.  Getting up, he moved carefully over to Daniel’s side and looked him over.  He had a nasty gash on the front of his forehead.  Looking ahead of him, he could see a small trace of blood on the elevator doors where Daniel had impacted them with his head.  Lightly shaking Daniel’s shoulder with one hand, Jack began calling out his name.  “Daniel!  Can you hear me?”

As Jack called out his name again, Daniel began to stir.  After another few seconds of moving his head back and forth, Daniel brought his hands up to his head and slowly opened his eyes.  “What happened?”

Jack breathed a sigh of relief, glad to see there had been no permanent damage.  “You slammed your head against the elevator doors.  One of the cables must have snapped.  You think you can sit up?”

Daniel squeezed his eyes shut before opening them again.  “Yeah, I think I can manage.  I don’t suppose you know where my glasses are?”

Jack looked around and saw them lying in a corner.  One side of the frames was bent, with a long crack going through one of the lenses.  Reaching over, he picked them up and handed them to Daniel, who attempted to bend the frames back to their right position before putting them on.

As he messed with them, Jack returned his attention to Sam, who was attempting to get up.  Reaching down, he took her hands and pulled her up to within inches of him.  Their eyes locked for a moment as their hands remained intertwined.  As Jack’s lips formed a smile that reflected in her eyes, she returned his and squeezed his hands.  It was all Jack could do not to reach out and find her lips.  He longed to feel them caressing his, but with Daniel in the elevator, it wasn’t possible.  Knowing Daniel would discover the moment happening between them at any second, Jack pulled away, but remained close to her side.

Daniel put on his glasses and looked up at them.  Jack was now eyeing the access panel as Sam bent down to help Daniel up.  “So, how much longer do you think we have until the rest of the cables decide to snap?”

Sam looked pensive.  “It’s strange.  These elevators are serviced regularly.  I can’t imagine that something as crucial as the cables and their condition could be so easily overlooked.”

Jack continued to look up as he spoke.  “Yeah, well, let’s not rule out anything just yet.  For all we know, the NID could have arranged this.”

Daniel looked stunned.  “Why?  For what reason would they have to do this?”

Sam chimed in on Jack’s idea.  “Who knows, but I agree with the Colonel.  There have been too many incidences with the NID that could have driven them to do this.”

Jack looked down at them.  “Well, accident or not, we can’t wait for the repair man.  The elevator will probably fall before they even figure out what to do.”

As if the elevator was mocking them, a low, rumbling groan echoed in the shaft all around them.  Daniel reached up and adjusted his glasses that had begun to slide down his nose again.  “That didn’ t sound particularly good.”

That was all the confirmation Jack needed.  “Alright, you two give me a boost.  There has to be some way out.  The least we can do get off the car.  Even if we have to cling to the walls of the shaft, it’ll be better than waiting in here for all the cables to snap.”

Daniel and Sam positioned themselves as Jack put one foot in each of their hands.  On a count of three, they hoisted Jack up enough for him to reach the panel in the ceiling and punch it out.  Gripping onto the edge, he used his strength to pull himself up and over.  Dragging himself out the rest of the way, he took a momentary breather as he let his eyes adjust to the blackness that was all around him.  He could here activity about two floors above him.  The sound of pry bars and urgent voices gave him the indication he needed that the SGC personnel were aware of the seriousness of their situation.  Turning back around to the hole he had just come through, he laid down on top of the car and anchored his feet around some suspension cables.

Reaching down, he called out to Sam.  “Okay, Carter, your turn.  Give her a boost, Daniel.”  As soon as the first traces of her skin hit his, he grabbed onto her hands and pulled, using the strength in his arms and abdomen to pull her up enough for Sam to get a good grip on the top of the elevator.  Bringing his hands around her waist, he helped her pull herself up the rest of the way.  Allowing her a moments rest, he went over behind her and wrapped her in his arms, kissing the top of her head.

Sam took her hands and covered his, squeezing them in an affectionate return.  Knowing they had to keep moving, they wordlessly let go of each other and took opposite sides of the car, lying down as Jack had done earlier.  Daniel jumped high enough to reach their hands, and they began to pull him up.  After Daniel had a good grip on the edge, Jack and Sam got up and squatted down as each of them gripped a side of Daniel’s pants.  As they were hoisting him up the rest of the way, another cable snapped somewhere below them, causing the car to shake once more.

Sam hung on for dear life.  In an instant, her eyes witnessed the horrific site of Jack tumbling backwards over the edge of the car.  As she screamed out his name, it echoed all around them.  “Colonel!”  Her heart was racing as she moved around Daniel to the spot where the man she loved had just fallen from.

Looking over the edge, she searched the darkness with an urgency she had never wanted to feel.  “Colonel!  Can you hear me?”  She waiting for what felt like an eternity before the welcomed sound of his voice invaded her ears.

“I think that’s the general idea of an echo, Carter.  How about pulling me up?”

Sam laughed lightly to relieve her nerves.  She never thought she’d be so happy to hear his sarcasm.  “Yes Sir!”  She and Daniel looked down through the darkness and saw him clinging to the bottom edge of the elevator, with a seemingly endless abyss beneath him.  Sam found a broke piece of cable and tossed one end down to him. She and Daniel positioned themselves to hoist him up.  As soon they felt his weight barring down on the other end, they began to pull as hard as they could.  With some huffing and puffing, they managed to get him safely to the top.

As they all collapsed from exhaustion, Daniel managed to find his voice.  “Geez Jack, maybe you should lay off the cake a little.”

Jack sat up enough to get a good view of Daniel.  “Sarcasm is a foreign language to you, isn’t it?”

Daniel gave Jack a confused look.  “I thought that was sarcasm.”

“No,” Jack countered, “that was an insult.”

Daniel shrugged.  “Well, I do speak 27 different language.  I’m sure I can easily pick up another one, especially since you like to use it so often.”

Despite their situation, Sam could help but smile at the latest round between her teammates.  Despite appearances, she knew that they both respected each other.  As she was about to speak, a light filtered down suddenly from above them.  Looking up, she saw that the outer doors to the elevator shaft two floors above them had been opened.

General Hammond’s voice was suddenly heard in the quiet.  “Colonel O’Neill, Major Carter, Dr. Jackson!  Are you three alright?”

Jack got up and shouted up to him.  “We’re fine, Sir.  We could use a little assistance getting out of here, though.  Any thoughts?”

“We’re going to lower a rope ladder down to you.  Let’s get you out of there before that elevator falls.”  Without hesitation, a long length of ladder stopped just above them.

“Nice,” Jack said, gripping the ladder.  Not wanting to wait any longer to see how long their luck would hold out, Jack began to climb up.

Sam ushered Daniel ahead of her.  “You have a possible concussion, Daniel.  I think it’s only smart that you go ahead of me in case you decide to pass out.”  Not wanting an argument, she moved Daniel forward and waited for him to start up.  Jack had reached the top and as soon as Daniel was halfway up, she intended to climb up as well.

Just as she was about to reach for the ladder, the last cable above them snapped, sending it dangerously in all directions.  Narrowly missing Daniel, it swept in front of Sam, forcing her to drop to the top of the car.  The elevator, now free from any restraint, began to screech wildly as the emergency brakes began to quickly loose their grip.  It shook violently, making it hard for Sam to get up.

            Daniel looked down.  “Sam!”

Jack’s voice followed instantly after Daniel’s.  “Carter!  Get out of there!”  Jack didn’t know what to do.  All he could see was the car sliding further down the shaft, with his whole life on top of it.  He could see her struggling to get up and get a steady enough balance to walk forward towards the ladder.  The screeching became louder as the brakes began to let go.  “Carter!”  Why didn’t he make sure she went first?  If she didn’t get off that car, he swore he would fling himself down the shaft after her.  He couldn’t live without her.

Just as the brakes gave up its fight to hold the elevator in place, Sam managed to surge forward, despite the movement of the car, and lunged for the ladder.  She barely had a grip on it before the elevator began its free fall into the abyss below.

Jack could see that Sam was clinging onto the end of the ladder.  Not waiting a moment longer, he and the personnel around him, including General Hammond and Teal’c, pulled on the ladder.  With their combined strength, Daniel appeared at the top in no time.  As Teal’c moved to quickly helping him off, they continued to pull until Sam’s hands finally appeared.  Jack let go of the ladder and moved over to her, gripping her forearms.  Teal’c was at Jack’s side instantly, and together, they got Sam out of the shaft just before a deafening crash was heard more than 20 stories below them.

Teal’c looked at Sam.  “Are you alright, Major Carter?”  He had been in the weight room when he had heard the news of his friends becoming trapped on the elevator.  They had become his family, and he didn’t want anything to happen to them.

Sam smiled up at him with Jack at her side.  “I’m fine, Teal’c.  A few rope burns, but nothing a little ointment won’t cure.  Thanks for your help.”  With this statement, she looked at all those gathered around them, with her eyes ending up on Jack’s.

He smiled at her.  “You’re welcome.  After all, we can’t have the brains of this entire operation dying on us.”  Jack winked at her as he helped her to her feet.

General Hammond looked at his number one team.  “I want you people to report to the infirmary to get checked out.”

Janet’s voice suddenly was heard as she came up beside Daniel.  “Yes, I agree.  This head wound of yours needs attention.”

Jack snapped his fingers.  “Ah, shucks!  I guess that leaves me out!”

Janet turned around as she was escorting Daniel.  “Not so fast, Colonel.  Don’t make me order Teal’c to escort you to the infirmary.”

Jack groaned in protest as Sam walked beside him.  “She really gets a joy out of ordering me around.  I’m convinced of it.”

Sam laughed.  “Come on, Sir.  It won’t be that bad.”

As they headed for the other elevator, Jack responded.  “Yeah right, maybe for you.  But I bet you anything she’ll stick me in the butt with one of those needles just for the heck of it.”

Sam lowered her voice so only Jack could hear.  “Well, Sir, it is hard to resist.”

Jack gave her a stunned look at her risky boldness, and then smiled to himself as he watched her walk on ahead of him.  He loved her so much.

As the nurse finished wrapping Sam’s hands in bandages, one of the airmen walked up to her.  “Excuse me Major, but Colonel O’Neill instructed me to give this to you.”

Sam took the folded note from the airman and thanked him.  Jack had left the infirmary about five minutes ago.  Waiting to read the note until the nurse finished dressing her hands, she got up off the bed and headed for the door.  Stopping outside in the hall, she opened up the note.

Come to my office when you’re finished in the infirmary.

Sam smiled to herself.  Any time alone with Jack was wonderful.  Walking with a lighter step, she headed for the only elevator that was working.  Not really wanting to get back on one, she knew there would be no avoiding it.  And besides, she was going to see Jack.  Nothing could keep her from that.

When she reached the level where Jack’s office was, she started down the hall.  Reaching his door, she was about to knock when she noticed another note taped to the door with her name on it.  Unfolding it, she read what it said.

            Come next door.

Now she was really confused.  The only door next to his office was a storage room.  Walking to it, she opened the door and found the lights were off.  Uncertain of her surroundings until her eyes had time to adjust to the light, she called out his name.  “Colonel?  Are you in here?”

Without warning, a hand reached out of the darkness, captured her arm and pulled her inside as the door closed behind her.  She knew Jack’s hands and his touch so well that the second he had reached for her, she had known it was him.  Before she knew it, Jack had led her to the back of the storage room, pinned her against the wall, and captured her mouth in a seductively wild kiss.  The passion it aroused in her was like a wildfire spreading through her body, and she answered his kiss with an equal intensity.  The urgency in his kisses sent her soaring, and she held onto him in a tight embrace as she melted.

After a few minutes of heated passion, Jack drew back, both of them trying to catch their breath as they held on tightly to one another.  The darkness washed in around them, but the love they had for each other shined equally in their eyes, giving light to a place where there was none.

Jack traced the outline of her face with his fingers and caressed her cheek.  When she leaned her head into his touch, he pulled her to him and wrapped his arms around her once more as she nestled comfortably into his chest.

After a moment, Sam found her voice in a whispered tone.  “That was unexpected and wonderful.”

Jack smiled.  “Well, let’s just call it a living dream.  There have been so many times that I wanted to just drag you in here and kiss you like I just did.  After seeing you on top of that falling elevator, scared to death that I might lose you, I decided I wasn’t going to wait any longer to live my dreams.”

Sam brought her head up and kissed him softly.  When she pulled back, she smiled at him.  “Well, I’m really glad you did.  You gave me quite a scare too today when you went tumbling off of the elevator.  Don’t ever do that to me again!  I don’t know what I’d do if I ever lost you.  I love you too much to live without you.”

Jack’s heart was soaring with happiness.  Never in his life had he ever felt this way.  He found that she had a warmth that took him in and held him, until everything cold and distant melted away.  And he never wanted to lose that warmth.

Jack found his voice again.  “And I love you.  Never forget that.”  With that, he kissed her once more, capturing the sides of her face to emphasize his passion.  Moving down, he nuzzled her neck with his lips.

Sam suddenly remembered what she had wanted to ask him.  “By the way, what was all the mystery about earlier?  What did you leave out when you were telling us about your time loop experiences?”

Jack looked up and smiled.  “Well, let’s just say it was another dream I was living out.  I handed General Hammond my resignation letter, you asked me why I was resigning, and I told you so I could do this.”

Sam could feel herself becoming almost giddy.  “And what was ‘this’?”

Jack reached up and brushed a stray hair out of her eyes.  “I took your face in my hands and kissed you wildly. It was actually quite dramatic.  There was even a swoop to it.  And I did it right there in the control room, in front of the general and all of the Gate technicians, airmen, and whoever else happened to be there.”  As she smiled at his description, he pulled her too him and held her close.

Sam almost found herself purring as she curled around him.  “I must say I like your dreams.  Is there anything else you dreamed about doing with me, maybe for instance, in this storage room?”

Jack laughed playfully, keeping his voice to a whisper.  “You bet there is!  Would you like a demonstration, Major?”

Sam laughed quietly.  “I would love one, Sir.  But are you sure that we’re not being too risky?  After all, this is reality, and anyone could walk through that door at any point.”

“Shhh,” Jack said, capturing her lips, “you think too much.”  As he started to work his hands down her body, reeling in the sensations she was creating in him, the door to the storage room suddenly opened.  Quickly ducking behind the last set of shelves, the lights illuminated the room, and peering out from behind a box, they could see one of the office assistants looking for supplies.  Praying that she wouldn’t come their way, they held their breath and waited with wildly beating hearts.

But after a few minutes, she found what she wanted, turned off the light, and closed the door.  Sam sat back against the wall, the adrenaline in her system trying to slow down.  Looking at Jack, they both started laughing quietly with each other.  When she had managed to calm her nerves, she reached out and touched his lips.  “Maybe we should live out the rest of the fantasy later tonight.  You know, I have a pretty big closet.”

Jack smiled.  “As much as I hate it, you’re right.  But I’ll take you up on your offer for later this evening.  If that was on offer?”

Sam smiled back at him and pulled him to her, kissing him hungrily.  When she released him, she got up and walked to the door.  Turning around briefly, she whispered out into the darkness.  “My place.  2100 hours.  Consider it a sleep over.”  With that, she opened the door and walked out, closing it softly behind her.

Jack was left in the dark still reveling in her kiss.  2100 hours.  He wouldn’t miss that for the world.  She was his future, he was sure of it, and he was going to enjoy every minute of it.
